European School Brussels I - La recherche en fête

Photos

Education Officer Alexandra Manaia and three young EMBL scientists who had participated as mentors in the BioAcademy project. Céline Pugieux, Felipe-Mora Bermudez and Jean-Baptiste Coutelis took part in a journey entitled La recherche en fête.

Together with the BioAcademy students, they instructed three sets of activities to many high school students in the school:

Activity 1: Drosophila mutants and genetics (Jean-Baptiste Coutelis)

Activity 2: The embryonic development of zebrafish (Alexandra Manaia).

Activity 3: Studying cell division (Felipe Mora-Bermudez and Céline Pugieux)

These activities related to the work that had been carried out by the BioAcademy group.

In the evening they all gathered for a dinner, a relaxing moment for the BioAcademy group, before Baccalaureate exam revisions.

The BioAcademy was a very successful project and we’ll miss all the BioAcademy students! We wish them good luck with their Baccalaureate exams and their future careers!

We are very interested in continuing to collaborate with Mr. Guichot and with the European School Brussels I. We hope to develop a new project with Mr. Guichot's new class, eventually extending it to other European Schools (in Brussels or elsewhere) and/or involving also public schools.
