Information will be added
Professor Pascale Cossart obtained a master degree at Georgetown University, Washington, DC. Back in France, she obtained her PhD in Paris since she is, heading the « Bacteria-Cell Interactions »unit at the Institut Pasteur. She is a member of several academies including the Leopoldina, the French Academy of Sciences, the NAS, the NAM, the Royal Society and since January 2016 she is Secretaire Perpétuel de l’Académie des Sciences.
After studying DNA-protein interactions, Pascale Cossart started in 1986, to study the molecular and cellular basis of infections by intracellular bacteria taking as a model the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. Her research has led to new concepts in infection biology but also in cell biology and in fundamental microbiology, including RNA regulation and antibiotic resistance.
