Joining the lab

Currently there are opportunities to join our research group as a postdoctoral researcher or a Master’s trainee student.

Applicants for post-doctoral positions

The project will be to investigate the functional role of efferent inputs to the retina in mice. Applicants wishing to integrate computational and experimental approaches are especially encouraged to apply. Research experience in any one of these areas is highly preferred but not required: mouse molecular genetics, viral neuronal tracing, behavioural assays, two-photon microscopy, optogenetics, electrophysiology, and computational modelling. A background in the physical/mathematical/computational sciences or engineering is beneficial. The successful candidate is expected to take a strong lead on his/her project and start to develop independent ideas. For applications please contact Hiroki Asari by email and attach your CV, a brief description of your research interests, and names of three references.

Applicants for trainee positions

Students will have the opportunity to learn how to address questions in systems neuroscience using a variety of cutting-edge techniques, including anatomical, physiological, and/or computational tools. Research experience in neuroscience or related fields is desired. Students are further expected to be highly motivated to work on challenging research projects in an international team. For applications, please contact Hiroki Asari by email and attach a motivation letter, your CV (including transcript if available), and names of two references. To learn more, visit the pages for Visitors and Undergraduates at EMBL. It may also be possible to find funding through your home Institution.
